This video presents an interview with Italian architect Mario Cucinella. In 1987 he graduated in architecture from the University of Genoa. After 5 years, he founded an architectural practice called Mario Cucinella Architects. The practice initially had success in international competitions, research, industrial design and sustainability. He lectures occasionally at Nottingham University and regularly on his work in schools of Architecture around Europe. He received the Energy Performance + Architecture Award in 2006 and the prestigious Forderüngs Prize for Architecture by the Akademie der Künste of Berlin. During the interview, the architect talks about wide range of architectural topics, especially he shares with us his thoughts about: importance of architectural events worldwide, Architectural Tourism, green architecture and its future and also how we could improve architecture as a profession.

A visitor’s centre with an ornate herringbone facade by Bernard Tschumi Architects opens this weekend on an archaeological site in central France. The cylindrical centre occupies the same position held by the Roman army during a historic battle against the Gauls over 2000 years ago and its wooden exterior references the timber fortifications that would have been constructed nearby. Exhibitions inside the visitor’s centre will portray the events of the battle and its aftermath, while the second building will present artefacts unearthed from the site. A garden of grass and trees covers the roof of the visitor’s centre and will be accessible to visitors.

This colossal six bedrooms, ten bathrooms residence located in Bel Air, California, will certainly appeal to those who are fascinated by an opulent lifestyle. Currently on sale for $30 million, the project comes with amenities aimed at satisfying the ego of the most pretentious residents: “A dramatic entry through 12-ft-high gates leads to a long private driveway and motor court that introduces the residence. Inside, the interiors are replete with 16-ft ceilings and such finishes as book matched marble walls and Italian fixtures. An baronial grand hallway links all of the public rooms, creating flow for entertaining. The main floor features an over-sized living room, elegant dining room, screening room, wood-paneled library, wine cellar, and gourmet chef’s kitchen. A soaring sculptural staircase climbs to reveal five guest bedrooms, a gym, and luxurious master suite. An attached guest house completes this rare opportunity“. Vértice Arquitectos designed this house in Cerro Azul, Peru. This house was designed in the first row, plot 5 in Lomas del Mar beach in Cerro Azul, 120Km. south of Lima. The plot is a rocky and sandy hill in a half curved shape that reaches 48 meters high above the sea level and drops steeply 8 meters in its lowest part. It has a 180° view to the Pacific Ocean to the south, and a panoramic view of the beach to the east and to the north. What do you think about its innovative form?

Keith Interior Design and Stauch Vorster Architects collaborated in designing the Long Beach Hotel in Mauritius. Putting aside the fantastic Mauritius Island, there are numerous features that make this a dream destination. Drift wood was combined with grey stone work and a relaxing color palette including pure white, aqua, chartreuse and coral place the focal point on the beautiful resort. In order to better utilize a space of 9 acre site at the heart of the Seattle Center, the Urban Intervention invited designers to conceive a fresh vision of social, economic and environmental opportunities. This was clearly with a view of generating ideas for a new generation and towards applicable solutions for major urban sites around the world. The 9 acre site is originally where the Memorial Stadium stands and will soon be demolished. It is to make way for more public space, which holds whimsical ideas for a new cultural center and public place.
