eVolo is pleased to invite students, architects, engineers, designers, and artists from around the globe to take part in the eVolo 2012 Skyscraper Competition. Established in 2006, the annual Skyscraper Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious awards for high-rise architecture. It recognizes outstanding ideas that redefine skyscraper design through the implementation of novel technologies, materials, programs, aesthetics, and spatial organizations along with studies on globalization, flexibility, adaptability, and the digital revolution. It is a forum that examines the relationship between the skyscraper and the natural world, the skyscraper and the community, and the skyscraper and the city.

The film presents the Summer 2011 Tomorrow Awards Winner – HypoSurface by dECOi Architects & MIT. HypoSurface is a physically dynamic display medium – literally speaking, a moving screen. It is a powerful new medium that seems to elicit a strange behavior and excitement of people of all ages. It is physically interactive to sound and movement, and combines a generative sound and movement logic with projection of light and image. You are able to see how it works and also have a look behind the scenes and hear the opinions.

The film presents a report from “Experimental Architecture” Exhibition in Poland. The exhibition concerns changes which can be observed in architecture and design in the recent years. Currently, we can find a lot of new and more complex applications based on various mathematical and genetic algorithms, parametric modeling and creative use of digital techniques. Therefore, organizers of the exhibition decided to show examples of this type of innovations.
