Geometrix Design Architects have recently presented their newest project, a highly modern apartment located in a famous residential complex in Moscow. The total area of the loft is 152.6 square meters and the materials used for the interior design- leather, ebony wood and stone- blend in perfectly with the strict geometry and precise architectural forms. Abandoning the idea of plain, blank walls, the designers decided to make use of each square inch and divide the space into functional zones, united by a common concept. In the hallway, the closet smoothly flows into the storage room area. Sliding doors of black glass reveal the fireplace or the elegant bookshelves. The lounge area near the fireplace can smoothly be transformed into a home theater, with plenty of room for guests. The lighting units have a metal finish, enhancing the flashy, modern feel of the apartment.

Located in Santa Fe, Argentina, Casa V was designed by Matías Blas Imbern+ Agustina González Cid and borrows its name from the shape of the residence. According to the architects, the idea for this project was to build a house around a patio without having to resort to a cloister, taking advantage of the irregular shape of the terrain. Measuring 210 square meters, on a lot of 800 square meters, the residence gives the impression of a fluid volume, a compact mass that was stretched, while preserving its continuity. The pool completes the appearance of the project and the whole assembly is surrounded by lush trees. Dynamism and fluidity are the features that characterize the strategy of this work, as well as the project’s relationship with its surrounding landscape. How would you comment on the features of this modern home?

Christopher Polly Architect designed the Elliott Ripper House, an inviting residence happily combining modern features with warm, rustic touches. Located in Rozelle, Sydney, Australia, this 161 square meter home displays a charming weatherboard cladding profile, large glass doors and pivoting windows allowing various degrees of openness: “The project simply and directly extrapolates existing formal qualities in plan and section, with extension of key existing materials and finishes to retain some memory of its previous incarnation – while providing a significantly expanded series of connected interior volumes that harness access to sunlight, ventilation and views of tree canopies, sky and district beyond“. The ground floor accommodates an open plan kitchen, dining and living volume, while the upper level hosts the private areas. The two previously unrelated floors are currently connected by a wooden staircase, enhancing the overall feeling of warmth inspired by this unusual contemporary home.

Frederico Valsassina Architects designed a lake house in Aroeira, Portugal. The residence displays a modern architecture, consisting of volumes with different functions and emphasizing the indoor/ outdoor interaction: “We wanted a home that understands the autonomy of different spatialities – social / private, day / night – with the creation of a terrace adjacent to the pool. Taking advantage of the conditions of deployment of the lot, both in terms of topography and its limits, the position of the villa emphasizes the creation of dominant visual axis in the direction of the immediate surroundings of the lake. Indeed, the service areas protect strategically, social areas, occupying the most disadvantaged local deployment. Investing in the gradual transition between the inside and outside, the terrace is assumed as a natural extension of the living area, promoting ongoing dialog with the environment and flexibility in the proposed appropriation of different spaces“. Find any distinctive features which make this home inspirational?

Have you ever come across a glass house? Not those ones which poses just huge glass walls or chambers. An apartment made completely of glass. Well, here is one! This is no movie set or any kind of art object; it is in fact a residence. I can imagine your amazement. This glass concept home is created by Italian design firm Santambrogio. Carlo Santambrogio and designer Ennio Arosio have said that it was the desire of the client to build it in glass completely. Located in Milan, the house sits in the middle of a wood clearing. The glass material used for its construction is 6 to 7 mm thick. The material can be specially heated during the winter, which is one of the best and most demanded characteristic feature. It is simply awesome to behold and looks like a perfectly cut and polished glass cube from outside, with a blue tinge to it. But I really wonder how one could live inside such a building.

Designed by Belgian Devolder Architects, the modern timber-clad home welcomes family and guest with a simple geometric shape pierced by the garage door and a walkway leading to a partly hidden entrance door. Behind this very private front, a series of social and private spaces meet the client’s demands. The backside is strongly connected to the garden via large windows on both floors – the lower level is flooded with direct natural light, while the upper one receives sunlight through a series of slated timber screens. Two sets of stairs connect the two levels of the house – one leads from the living room to the bedrooms, while the other constructs a link to the upstairs office space. Cozy and elegant, the modern house can inspire you to create comfortable, family-friendly interiors for your next residential project, so enjoy!

Living in the midst of nature is one thing. Inviting nature into your home as a part of the living space is something entirely different.
